High-Shine Penny Loafer, Low Stacked Heel
Character is rare in a penny loafer, which mostly trades on being unremarkable. This one has some, and it comes from the finish.
The upper carries a high-shine surface, and perforated trim runs along the saddle strap and the collar, breaking up what would otherwise be an unbroken sweep of gloss. The result is a classic silhouette with an edge on it. A low stacked heel and a sturdy sole sit underneath and give the shoe a grounded, put-together weight, so it does not read as flimsy the way flatter loafers sometimes do. Inside, a cushioned footbed with built-in arch support handles the distance between a morning meeting and whatever the evening turns into.
Easy on and easy off, with nothing to fasten. Wear the loafer where the shine is allowed to show — it is doing most of the work, and covering it up with a long hem wastes the best thing about the shoe.
