Loafers & Slip-Ons is where Texas Shoe Exchange puts the shoes you step into without bending down: penny loafers, horsebit loafers, slingback loafers and slide sandals, for anyone in Round Rock who would rather not think about footwear before nine in the morning.

Nothing in this group laces. A stretch topline, an elastic panel or a pull tab at the heel does the work a lace normally does, and the fit holds because the upper is cut to follow the foot instead of being cinched around it. Underfoot, expect a contoured footbed with arch support, a cushioned insole and a flexible outsole with grooves that bend where the foot bends. Removable insoles run through much of the group for anyone who already wears their own orthotics.

The uppers are leather, suede, nubuck and knit; the details are the ones that make a loafer recognisable at a glance — a penny strap across the vamp, moc-toe stitching, brogue perforations, a horsebit or a rope knot. Colours stay quiet: black, navy, tan and natural.

They read correctly under cropped trousers on a weekday and under jeans on a Saturday, which is the whole reason the shape has outlasted almost everything worn beside it. Loafers & Slip-Ons is the low-effort end of the shop.
